Students who began studies in the Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program prior to Fall 2023 are encouraged to contact Trent University for information about transfer credits received as part of this pathway.

Exigences

To qualify for this agreement, students must have:
- successfully completed Fleming College's Biotechnology - Advanced Diploma program at Fleming College;
- a minimum overall average of 75%.

NOTE: Applicants must declare their choice of program at the time of initial application to Trent University.

Conditions de résidence dans le programme

Students are required to complete the following 13.0 credits to fulfill requirements for the Forensics and Science degree:

  • 0.5 FRSC 1100H - Introduction to Canadian Justice
  • 0.5 FRSC 2020H - Scientific Methodology in Forensic Science
  • 0.5 FRSC 3010H - Crime Scene Investigation
  • 0.5 FRSC 3100H - Trends in Forensic Science
  • 2.5 additional Forensic Science credits at the 3000 level or beyond
  • 0.5 additional Forensic Science credit
  • 1.0 Math credit at the 1000 level
  • 7.0 additional credits, including electives or requirements for the second major

*Additional notes

  • Courses without specified year levels must include at least 3.0 credits at the 3000 and/or 4000 level(s), and no more than 2.5 credits at the 1000 level.  Choice credits must also include 5.0 science credits to obtain the BSc.
  • Students will graduate with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Forensic Science and the second program chosen. Popular second majors for Forensic Science students include Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Sociology, though choices are not limited to these majors. A full list of available majors is available at http://trentu.ca/futurestudents. The number of credits required for the second major will vary, and as a result, students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to discuss options that will not extend studies beyond 13.0 credits at Trent. The same course may not simultaneously satisfy the requirements of both programs in a joint-major degree, with the exception of the following:
    • Students pursuing a joint-major Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science and Anthropology, 1.0 MATH credit at the 1000 level and 1.0 BIOL or CHEM credit at the 1000 level may be used to simultaneously satisfy the requirements of both programs.
    • Students pursuing a joint-major Honours degree in Forensic Science and Biology are required to take the following courses which simultaneously satisfy the requirements of both programs: BIOL 1020H, BIOL 1030H, MATH 1051H, and MATH 1052H.
    • Students pursuing a joint-major Honours degree in Forensic Science and Chemistry are required to take the following courses which simultaneously satisfy the requirements of both programs: CHEM 1000H, CHEM 1010H, and two of MATH 1005H, 1051H, 1051H, 1110H, 1120H, 1350H, or 1550H.

The agreement will be reviewed annually, or sooner in the event of major curriculum changes in either partner’s programs. This agreement may be terminated by either party. In this case, notice of one year is required. In the event of termination of the agreement, every effort will be made to ensure that students currently enrolled in the program will not be affected.
