    Applicants who have completed a minimum of one year of a CAAT diploma program that is academic in nature with a minimum cumulative average of B (3.0) at the CAAT will be considered for admission to First Year of an appropriate program. Applicants who have graduated from a three-year CAAT program that is academic in nature with a minimum cumulative average of B (3.0) at the CAAT will be considered for admission to Second Year of an appropriate program. Transfer Applicants to competitive programs such as Nursing and Social Work have additional supplemental application requirements. These programs are only available for fall entry and have specific application deadlines. An applicant from an undergraduate degree program at a College of Applied Arts and Technology will follow the same admissions requirements “A Canadian University Degree Program.” Canadian Citizen and Permanent Resident transfer applicants who do not meet the stated admission requirements may be admissible as a Mature Student Applicant Specific program prerequisite courses and stated averages must have been completed through high school or equivalent courses in post-secondary studies.   • Please add the following:

    • An applicant transferring from a 3-year or 4-year Canadian University degree program with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 60% is eligible for general admission. 

    The following faculties have higher minimum CGPA’s for transfer admission: 

    • Odette School of Business – 67%, Engineering – 65%, Social Work – 70% (including a supplementary competitive application and Fall entry only) and Nursing – 75% (including a supplementary competitive application and Fall entry only). 

    A student who has been required to withdraw from their previous institution will not be accepted to the University of Windsor during the period of their disbarment (typically 1-year). Specific program prerequisite courses and stated averages must have been completed through high school or equivalent courses in post-secondary studies.   • Degree Completion

    • Your previous postsecondary credential will used as the basis of admission and you will be admitted to a level higher than first year.
       

    Block Transfer Agreement

    • You will receive transfer credit based on the package of course equivalencies outlined in the agreement. 
       

    Course-to-Course Equivalency

    • Each course on your incoming transcripts is evaluated and you will receive transfer credit for each eligible equivalency.   
       

    Specified and Unspecified Credits

    • The University of Windsor awards specified and unspecified credits in recognition of previous learning.
       

    Specified Credit

    • Equates a course (or courses) taken at a previous institution to a specific course at the University of Windsor.
       

    Unspecified Credit (or Elective Credit)

    • Recognizes the academic discipline and year level of a course (or courses) taken at a previous institution and grants credit without equating it to a specific University of Windsor course.

  • The University of Windsor will consider all university courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency.

  • CBL Competency-Based Learning is an acceptable process for assigning credit at the undergraduate level for learning stemming from experience acquired independently of courses taken at an accredited post-secondary institution:

    • To be eligible for a Competency-Based Learning evaluation, you must be admitted to an Undergraduate program at the University of Windsor.
    • Submit a Competency-Based Learning Application prior to or during your first semester at the University of Windsor (we strongly recommend you submit your request as early as possible as the assessment process can be lengthy).
    • Submit the completed and signed CBL application form to the Office of the Registrar by email to transcripts@uwindsor.ca.  
    • Advanced-standing credits are awarded strictly for courses at the University of Windsor and that are part of your degree program.
    • You can receive a maximum of up to 10 semester courses (30 credit units).
    • Advanced-standing credits do not count towards University of Windsor residency requirements (i.e., courses you MUST complete at the University of Windsor).
    • In the event, your request for advanced standing is not approved, you can appeal the decision in writing to the Dean (or the Dean’s representative).
    • Some licensing bodies or professional associations may not recognize units obtained in recognition of prior learning.

  • The CBL Competency-Based Learning program is quite new at the University of Windsor and although there is a cost for this assessment, the confirmed fee is yet to be determined.

  • Transfer credits will be recorded on your University of Windsor transcript with a grade of “T” and will not be included in the GPA calculation.

  • Transfer Application and Credit Process https://future.uwindsor.ca/transfer 

    1.  Review our Transfer Pathways and Course Equivalency Database.
    2.  Apply to the University of Windsor through the OUAC Undergraduate Application, which includes an evaluation fee. 
    3. Follow the instructions in the acknowledgment email you receive to activate your UWin account. Then sign in to UWinsite Student to upload transcripts & other items on your To Do List. 
    4. Your initial assessment is based on our Course Equivalency Database. You will be asked to submit course outlines for those not previously evaluated - View the Guidelines and direct your outlines to transfercredit@uwindsor.ca
    5. Your Transfer Credit results can be viewed on UWinsite Student in your Academic Advising Report or Unofficial Transcript after you’ve been activated for registration. 
    6. Connect with an Academic Advisor for academic support or Admissions for transfer credit support.
  • A transfer credit assessment at the University of Windsor costs $75.00 and the fee is non-refundable.

  • The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at the University of Windsor includes: 

    • Official transcript(s) 
    • Course outline(s) or detailed course syllabi may be required
    • All course outlines must be submitted electronically preferable in PDF format
  • You will be asked to submit course outlines (Guidelines for submitting Course Outlines) for courses that have not been previously evaluated for transfer credit. 

  • Apply to transfer credit at the University of Windsor within the first semester of your program.

  • Transfer credit decisions at the University of Windsor are generally provided with your offer of admission, where possible.  The course evaluation process takes approximately 4-6 weeks from time of admission to a student’s account updated.

  • A transfer credit decision can be reviewed/appealed at the University of Windsor by contacting the Office of the Registrar within 1 year of being admitted to your program.
