  • Review the admission requirements for all undergraduate programs at the Royal Military College of Canada:

  • The minimum grade required to transfer a course to the Royal Military College of Canada is 60% or "C-", except where an articulation agreement or Engineering Accreditation guideline states otherwise. This minimum refers to undergraduate transfer credits.

  • The Royal Military College of Canada awards RMC course equivalencies, unallocated discipline specific credits, and unallocated general elective credits.

  • The Royal Military College of Canada will consider all courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency. However, for Computer Science courses taken more than 5 years ago the equivalencies listed in the ONTransfer Course Transfer Guide will not be valid until a new review has been completed confirming current university level learning.

  • The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by the Royal Military College of Canada's residency policy. For undergraduate degrees, the policy states that normally at least 50% of degree requirements must be completed at the College. However, for students completing a General Bachelor of Military Arts and Science, only 10 of the 30 credits must be completed at the College.

  • Follow these steps in order to receive your undergraduate PLAR assessment at the Royal Military College of Canada:

    • Review the RMC Table of Credit Granted (https://www.rmc-cmr.ca/en/plar/table-credit-granted)
    • An initial Prior Learning Assessment is completed for RMC students only. If you meet RMCC admissions requirements, you will receive an initial assessment by completing the Admissions application form.
    • Credits granted for PLAR (completion of military or other professional courses recognized as learning at a university level, worthy of university credit) will be recorded on your Royal Military College of Canada transcript as "CG " and will not be included in the calculation of your average.
  • An initial undergraduate Prior Learning Assessment, including PLAR assessment, at the Royal Military College of Canada is included in the application fee for admission ($75.00 includes review of postsecondary and military courses). A review of professional courses not already on the RMC Table of Credit Granted is $500.00.

  • Transfer credits will be recorded on your Royal Military College of Canada transcript as "TC" and will not be included in the calculation of your average.

  • An initial undergraduate Prior Learning Assessment, including transfer credit assessment, at the Royal Military College of Canada is included in the application fee for admission ($75.00 includes review of postsecondary and military courses). Letter of Permission or Request for Transfer Credit for courses taken elsewhere while completing a degree program at the RMC is $50.00 per course.

    • Official transcript(s)
    • Course outline(s) may be required (topic list, number of lecture/lab hours, duration of the course, grading breakdown [i.e. the number of essays, tests and exams], and reading list [i.e. required textbooks])
    • Course description(s)
    • Completed ‘Request for Prior Learning Assessment’ application form (for new undergraduate distance learning students)
  • Complete the application form at the Royal Military College of Canada:

    New Undergraduate Distance Learning Students 

  • There is no deadline to apply for transfer credit at the Royal Military College of Canada.

  • An undergraduate transfer credit decision at the Royal Military College of Canada will take approximately 2 months to process.

  • An undergraduate transfer credit decision can be reviewed/appealed at the Royal Military College of Canada by sending your queries to plar-efa@rmc-cmr.ca (queries will be forwarded to the Director-PLAR for further action).
