The minimum grade required to transfer a course to the University of Ottawa is 50% or a passing grade, whichever is higher, for college applicants and 60% or higher for university applicants.

The University of Ottawa awards advanced standing in recognition of previous academic learning.

The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by the University of Ottawa's residency policy. The policy states that at least 50% of program requirements must be completed at the University.

The University of Ottawa will consider all courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency, with the exception of certain subjects where a time limit of completion may be set.

A PLAR assessment at the University of Ottawa costs $25.00 to have your request's eligibility examined and $250.00 for the assessment itself if deemed eligible. All fees are non-refundable.

Transfer credits will be recorded on your University of Ottawa transcript as "Q" or “X” for exemptions and will not be included in GPA calculation.

Once you’ve accepted your offer of admission, the Admissions Office will make an initial assessment of your advanced standing.
You’ll receive a revised offer of admission. Log into your uoZone account and download the revised offer to see your advanced standing and read all the information pertinent to it. You don’t have to accept our revised offer even if you accepted our original offer. -
There is no fee required for a transfer credit assessment at the University of Ottawa. Please note that for University transfer students, we evaluate the advance standing once you have accepted your offer.

The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at the University of Ottawa includes:
- Official transcript(s)
- Codes and titles of courses

An application form is not required at the University of Ottawa. Applicants who have previously attended a postsecondary institution are automatically assessed for transfer credit. Please note that for University transfer students, we evaluate the advance standing once you have accepted your offer.

Transfer credit is automatically assessed at the University of Ottawa. Students must disclose all previous postsecondary education (transcripts) upon submitting their admissions application. All required supporting documentation should be submitted in accordance with the deadlines associated with your program and semester of admission.

Once you’ve accepted your offer of admission, the Admissions Office will make an initial assessment of your advanced standing within 10 business days.

A transfer credit decision cannot be reviewed/appealed at the University of Ottawa. All transfer credit assessments are final.
