The minimum grade required to transfer a course to Niagara College is a passing grade at the source institution.
For advanced standing, you must have earned the following grade point average in the transferring program and the transferring program must be the same level of learning as the receiving program: 60% for advanced standing to a diploma program and 65% for advanced standing to a degree program. Advanced Standing is not granted to a college graduate certificate program.

Niagara College awards Advanced Standing, specified equivalencies, and General Education and English elective credits in recognition of previous learning.

The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Niagara College’s residency policy. The policy states that at least 25% of credits in a program of study must be completed at the College.

Equivalent (EQ): The student has met the course requirements through equivalent courses taken at Niagara College.
Exempt (EX): The student has met the course requirements through equivalent courses taken at another institution.
Advanced Standing (AS): The student has met multiple course requirements in a single term through equivalent courses taken at Niagara College or another institution.

Follow these steps to apply for a Transfer Credit Assessment at Niagara College:
- Complete the online Transfer Credit Request Form - (https://www.niagaracollege.ca/enrolmentservices/admissions/transfer/)
- Upload an official copy of your transcript and detailed course outline(s) or syllabi which must include:
- Learning outcomes of the course
- Length of the course (in hours)
- Type of assessment used to demonstrate learning
Once a request has been received and evaluated, students will be notified of the decision through email.

Transfer credit applications are free of charge for domestic assessments.

The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at Niagara College includes:
- Official transcript(s).
- WES/ICAS Course by Course Credential evaluation for courses that come from an institution outside of North America.
- Course outline(s).
- Completed 'Transfer Credit Request’ application form.
