The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Mohawk College’s residency policy. The policy states that at least 25% of the program of study must be completed at the College.

Mohawk College will generally consider courses completed within the past 5 years for transfer credit. Requests beyond 5 years will be considered at the discretion of the program area.

Follow these steps in order to receive your PLAR assessment at Mohawk College:
- Contact the Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition Office via email at plar@mohawkcollege.ca.
- All applicants will be required to complete a PLAR Registration Form and pay the non-refundable assessment fee.

A PLAR assessment at Mohawk College costs $145.08 per course and the fee is non-refundable.

Transfer credits will be recorded on your Mohawk College transcript as "E" and will not be included in GPA calculation.

Follow these steps in order to receive your transfer credit assessment at Mohawk College:
- Go to MyMohawk.mohawkcollege.ca
- Enter your Mohawk ID and password
- Click on the “ACADEMICS” tab
- Under the section “Course tools” select “Apply for a Course Exemption”
- Enter the “Number Of Course Exemption Requests to create”
- Choose the Exemption Type
- Choose the Course for Exemption
- Enter the Transferring Institution and Course Information
- Submit your request
- Visit The Square (at any campus) with your “Original and Sealed Transcript” along with the “Course Outline” from the originating institution
- International documents must be evaluated by International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS) or World Education Services (WES)
- Check the Student Exemption Report for your exemption request status

There is no fee required for a transfer credit assessment at Mohawk College.

The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at Mohawk College includes:
- Official transcript(s) in sealed envelope from originating institution
- Course outline(s)
- International documents must be evaluated by International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS) or World Education Services (WES)

Apply to transfer credit at Mohawk College no later than the 10th day of classes (corresponding to the last day to add/drop courses for fee refund) of the semester pertaining to the exemption request. Late applications may be assessed at the discretion of the program area.
