  • Review the admission requirements for all programs at Georgian College:

  • The minimum grade required to transfer a course to Georgian College is 60%, “C” or higher. Exceptions apply when the minimum grade required for a particular program may be higher.

  • View Georgian College’s articulation agreement opportunities:

  • Georgian College awards transfer credits, transfer experience, and advanced standing in recognition of prior learning.

    • Transfer Credits: awarded for courses completed at other accredited colleges and universities
    • Transfer Experience: awarded based on work/life experience, related to the intended program of study
    • Advanced Standing: entry to an upper semester of a GC program
  • The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Georgian College’s residency policy. The policy states that at least 25% of credits in a certificate of achievement, a minimum of 1 semester or 25% of credits (whichever is greater) in a certificate or 1-3 year diploma, and 25% of credits in a 4 year degree must be completed at the College.

  • To meet current curriculum, accreditation and learning outcomes, courses completed 10 or more years ago will not be recognized for transfer credit exemption. Some programs may require courses to be taken less than 10 years ago. You should consult with the program coordinator.

  • Transfer credits will be recorded on your Georgian College transcript as "EX" and will not be included in GPA calculation.

  • The is no fee for a transfer credit assessment at Georgian college.

  • The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at Georgian College includes: 

    • Official transcript(s)
    • Course outline(s)
  • Access the Transfer Credit System here if you are a current GC student or have applied for a GC program already.

    • June 1 – Fall semester 
    • October 1 – Winter semester
    • March 1 – Summer semester 

    Late CPL exemption petitions are not guaranteed to be completed in time for your course registration or withdrawal deadlines. CPL exemption petitions received after the start date of the course to be exempted will be accepted for review, but the decision of the assessment cannot be guaranteed by the last day for you to withdraw without academic penalty (Section 4.4.1 Program withdrawal process). 

  • A transfer credit decision, if submitted on time, could take up to 4 weeks to process.  However, if the request is more complex, processing time may take longer.

  • A transfer credit decision can be reviewed/appealed at Georgian College.  Please visit Georgian College’s Academic Regulations for appeal process at Georgian College Academic Appeals.
