A minimum grade of 60% is required for a course to be considered for transfer credit from another institution. For Confederation College courses with a higher minimum grade requirement than 60%, the applicant must have achieved the equivalent of the minimum passing grade.

Confederation College awards specified credits (equivalencies) in recognition of previous learning.

The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Confederation College’s residency policy. The policy states that at least 25% of the hours of instruction required in a program of study must be completed at the College.

Confederation College will consider all courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency. Considerations are dependent on the course and program in which you are enrolled.

Follow these steps in order to receive your PLAR assessment at Confederation College:
- Discuss the PLAR possibilities with your Program Coordinator. You and your Program Coordinator will review the course outline and your experience. Through these discussions a decision will be made whether PLAR is the correct choice for you and what type of PLAR should be completed (challenge process or portfolio).
- Complete a ‘Prior Learning Assessment Review’ form with your Program Coordinator and submit the form along with the PLAR fee to the Registrar's Office.
- Once you have finished the PLAR requirements as established by your Program Coordinator, your Program Coordinator will determine your final grade.

A PLAR assessment at Confederation College costs $145.62 initially for one course and each additional course costs $20.00, if applied for at the same time.

Transfer credits will be recorded on your Confederation College transcript as "TR" and will not be included in GPA calculation.

Follow these steps in order to receive your transfer credit assessment at Confederation College:
- Compare previously taken courses against Confederation College course descriptions.
- Identify the course(s) for which you are seeking transfer credit(s) (look for matches in learning outcomes).
- Send Registration Services detailed course outline(s), your official transcript(s) along with a completed application form (one form for each transfer request) and payment of the applicable fee.
- Approved transfer credit(s) will be applied to your official Confederation College student record.

A transfer credit assessment at Confederation College costs $25.00 (administrative fee) initially for one course and $50.00 for two or more courses, if applied for at the same time.

The documentation required to have your previously completed postsecondary education assessed for transfer credit at Confederation College includes:
- Official transcript(s)
- Course outline(s)
- Completed ‘Transfer Credit Request’ application form
- Additional program information/references may be required

Apply to transfer credit at Confederation College by May 15th for the Fall semester and by November 15th for the Winter semester and March 15th for the Spring semester. Requests received after these dates will be accommodated subject to available resources.

A transfer credit decision at Confederation College will take 1-2 weeks to process. The Admissions Department will forward the information package to the appropriate Program Coordinator for review. The content and learning outcomes between the Confederation College course and the course from the source institution are compared.

A transfer credit decision cannot be reviewed/appealed at Confederation College. In all cases, the decision of the Academic School is final.
