Canadore College awards advanced standing and exemptions (equivalencies) in recognition of previous formal learning.

The amount of transfer credit you can receive is limited by Canadore College’s residency policy. The policy states that at least 25% of program credits must be completed at the College.

Canadore College will consider all courses for transfer credit, regardless of currency.

Follow these steps in order to receive your PLAR assessment at Canadore College:
- Meet with the Pathways Officer.
- Review course outline(s) and complete a self-assessment.
- Meet with a PLAR assessor to discuss the assessment(s).
- Apply for your PLAR assessment(s) by filling out a PLAR application and paying the fee.
- Complete PLAR assessment(s).

A PLAR assessment at Canadore College costs $115.00 per course and the fee is non-refundable.

Transfer credits will be recorded on your Canadore College transcript with a grade of "TC" and will not be included in GPA calculation.

Follow these steps in order to receive your transfer credit assessment at Canadore College:
- Review your program’s curriculum and compare it to the courses you’ve previously completed to get an idea of your transfer/exemption possibilities.
- Complete an application form and submit it to the Admissions Office along with course outlines for the courses being reviewed. Pay the appropriate fee.
- Ensure that the Admissions Office has received your official academic transcript(s) confirming successful completion of the course(s) being assessed.

A transfer credit assessment at Canadore College costs $25.00 for one course and $50.00 for two or more courses each semester. Fees are re-set each semester.

Complete the application form at Canadore College:

Apply to transfer credit at Canadore College 15 business days prior to the start of each semester. Applications received prior to the deadline will be reviewed, and students will be notified of the outcome, prior to the deadline for dropping classes. Applications received after the deadline will still be reviewed.

A transfer credit decision at Canadore College will take approximately 2-4 weeks to process.
